Revolution in Gaming

SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) – Videogame makers from around the globe are gathering to seek paths to fortune and glory on a landscape upset by social networks, smartphones, tablet computers, and the Internet "cloud." More than 18,000 industry insiders are expected to attend the week-long Game Developers Conference that kicks off Monday in downtown San Francisco. The event has grown into the world's largest confab of videogame professionals since it started in 1988 with about two dozen computer game loving software developers meeting in a living room. Major themes at GDC will include adapting to the booming popularity of "social games" at online communities such as Facebook and casual play on smartphones or tablet computers. Facebook stands to benefit nicely from the trend, since about half of its more than 500 million members play games and the social network takes a 30 percent cut of revenue from game transactions. Internet game playground Hi5 will introd...

Robots that can see through Walls

Us army has funded a programme under which a robot has been developed that is so sensitive that it can see through walls by detecting reflected radio-waves. The robot contains an extremely sensitive RF scanner that can send wide abnd signals that can penetrate through concrete walls and reveal the sights and sounds that occur behind. That robot can be controlled remotely and can be used for spying what is going on in hotel rooms or in the office or homes. Even the sound of breathing of a person can be detected by this robot., as it is fitted with a fine beam ultra- wide abnd multi Gigahertz radio frequency sensors arrays. This "sense-through-the-wall" (STTW) technology will expose many politicians ad leaders to intruding electronics ears and eyes. Named Cougar 20H , the robot has been developed by TaiLinx .

New high speed connection tech due to Apple

An announcement from Apple is expected soon about a new high-speed connection technology. Whether the new connector tech will be part of the upcoming MacBook Pro update (rumored to happen February 24) or announced in another context is not clear. Intel has been working on a technology called Light Peak for years and recently said the initial version would be based on copper, as practical realities dictate more conventional technology.

Vulture - Unmanned Aircraft

Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) of United States is working to develop an unmanned aircraft that is able to stay in air for a period of 5 years at a time. It is one of the most recent inventions of world. Officials of DARPA has revealed that this aircraft will be known as VULTURE due to its Persistent Pseudo-Satellite Capability . It means that this aircraft will be able to fly over a single area, communicating or performing analysis for years at a time. Even this project looks appealing to many of you, but there are some serious problems or you can say obstacles in achieving this project. 1) First challenge in front of designers is to figure out some Way to Supply Power to this aircraft during long missions. 2) Another problem is that this aircraft will carry a 1000 pound (450 kg) payload in winds at an altitude of 60,000 to 90,000 feet. 3) Designers have also to sort out the problems regarding Deterioration of Materials during their long-time exposur...

4G Technology!!

4G also called as Fourth-Generation Communications System, is a term used to describe the next step in wireless communications. You've read that right folks, smartphones nowadays claim that they can pretty much do everything. Add to that Korean carrier SK Telecom 's marketing of their new service bundled with the Galaxy S to be launched within the week. Although in hindsight, the Galaxy S Hoppin is really just your android phone that includes a dock that allows you to hook it up to your TV and use the company's Hoppin streaming service to get content to it. You can get movies for 1000 to 3500 Won (or around $0.89 to $3.12). Other than that, the phone specs are relatively the same.

IPHONE 5 Coming Sooon

Looking for further evidence that the iPhone 5 is on its way? You’re in luck! DIGITIMES’ Willie Teng reports that Apple has added Foxconn Electronics, Foxlink, Gold Circuit Electronics (GCE) and Epistar as component suppliers for the iPhone 5, more evidence that development of the next generation of Apple’s iconic smartphone is proceeding toward a product release later this year. While this is great news for iPhone 5 hopefuls, don’t get your hopes up for a Spring iPhone 5 release. Teng expects the iPhone 5 will not launch until summer at the earliest, based on a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report. And that sounds about right, since there are rumors of the iPad 2 launch anticipated in March or April and probably a round of MacBook Pro updates as well coming up that should keep Apple’s dance card full for the near future.
